The Solar Disc was built from two source vocabularies: Feng Shui elemental fire color symbolism, and the particular palette of ceramics kiln firings — the golds, burnt oranges, and deep reds that emerge when heat transforms raw clay into something permanent. The design is intentionally primitive in its radial structure. Not because simplicity was the path of least resistance, but because the solar symbol predates every art movement and every cultural tradition that has since claimed it. It belongs to no school. It belongs to fire.

This piece has hung in direct sight-line above my studio monitors since it was completed. It functions as a daily instrument — a consistent source of energetic reorientation when the work gets grinding and the signal starts to gray. I did not design it to be comfortable. I designed it to wake the room up.
