The Melek Taus Mandala
Drawn from one of humanity’s most ancient living mythologies, my Melek Taus Mandala celebrates the compassionate Peacock Angel who refused to bow before 1anyone but the Creator — and was rewarded for refusing to Serve Humanity, not punished for refusing an order from God.
Inspired by the Yezidi tales of Melek Taus extinguishing the flames of Hell forever with his tears of compassion, I created this mandala as a prayer to this Avatar of Light whose story resonates across world faiths.
The rich colors and feathered eye patterns echo the sublime beauty of this divine being who chose principled disobedience over abject conformity, who refused to bow to the authority of Men and yet whose love for Humanity transcended the imperatives of divine hierarchy.
This piece honors not just an ancient story, but the timeless values of integrity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to a higher truth.
