During my stroke recovery, I returned to the Mandala form, focusing not just on the art, but on the physical healing and recovering range of motion in my affected left hand.
I stood in a place of darkness, surrounded by crystallized, disconnected fragments of my past. I felt like a stranger to my own internal topography, trying to make sense of the confusion that remained when my mind came back online.
I reverted to my witchy teachings—casting a circle to create a manageable space. I grabbed the shards of a life lost and used the principle of Kintsugi—the Japanese art of golden repair—to bring the remnants of who I was into alignment with who I am now, all through the act of Mandala Creation.
